Trim
This flow element removes a set amount of time from the start and/or end of a video.
Unlike Duration/Start, you do not need to know how long the video is. For example, to cut the last 5 minutes off every video, set Trim End to 5 minutes and the flow element works out where each video should end.
It does not immediately cut the file. Like all FFmpeg Builder flow elements, it updates the FFmpeg Builder model, and the trim is applied when the FFmpeg Builder Executor runs.
Fields
Trim Start
The amount of time to remove from the start of the video.
Leave this at 0 to keep the start of the video.
Trim End
The amount of time to remove from the end of the video.
Leave this at 0 to keep the end of the video.
Examples
For a 60 minute video:
| Trim Start | Trim End | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 2 minutes | 0 | Keeps 2:00 to 60:00 |
| 0 | 5 minutes | Keeps 0:00 to 55:00 |
| 2 minutes | 5 minutes | Keeps 2:00 to 55:00 |
Combining with Other Trimming
If an earlier flow element has already set a cut, such as Duration/Start or Trim End Credits, this flow element trims within that cut instead of replacing it.
For example, if Trim End Credits keeps the first 50 minutes of a video, then a Trim Start of 2 minutes keeps 2:00 to 50:00.
Outputs
-
Trim configured
The FFmpeg Builder model has been updated, and the video will be trimmed when the FFmpeg Builder Executor runs. -
Not trimmed
The FFmpeg Builder model is unchanged. This happens when:- Both Trim Start and Trim End are 0.
- The video is shorter than Trim Start and Trim End combined.
- Trim End is set, but the video's duration could not be read.
